Marcus married Nancy Ann Ramsey on 21 Dec 1850 in Oglethorpe County. They had two children of record:
- Preshey E Reid (25 May 1852 – 2 Jun 1852)
- Ellen Ann Reid (30 Aug 1855 – 1899)
Nancy died on 3 Aug 1869 in Alabama. Marcus married Nancy Elizabeth Duke on 11 Sep 1870 in Floyd County, Georgia. After their marriage they lived in Armuchee, Floyd County, Georgia where their six children of record were born:
